A scaffold is an elevated platform erected for staging workers and materials at heights above the ground. Most scaffolds used for construction work are fairly complex structures. Workers need to know how to erect and dismantle them, and how to work from them safely. Unsafe scaffolds account for 40% of the top 10 OSHA citations on construction jobs, and represent one of the most dangerous conditions for workers. Just like OSHA requires a “competent person” be on the jobsite to oversee scaffolding erection, use, and disassembly, God has placed Christians on jobsites as people competent to assist others in “building their scaffold” up to Heaven – not by relying on man-made ideas, but by trusting in Jesus as revealed to us in the Bible. This TOOLBOX Safety Card +Plus provides a reminder to practice safety protocols when using scaffolds, AND to be alert to opportunities to help show others the way of salvation.
